The Indie Memphis Film Festival was recently named one of the MovieMaker Magazine’s 2016 “50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee”, the fourth time to receive the honor.

This year’s festival, to be held November 1 through 7, will also welcome a new member to the festival’s senior staff. Brandon Harris, a NYC-based Contributing Editor for Filmmaker Magazine who has worked nebulously in the world of independent cinema as a filmmaker, critic and educator, will join the Indie Memphis team as Festival Programmer. Focusing his energies mainly on both the festival’s feature narrative and documentary competition sections, Harris will consult on the festival’s other
programs, host discussions with celebrated guests and bring his unique understanding of the contemporary American indie scene to bear on a festival widely considered to be one of the country’s most consistently outstanding regional motion picture showcases.

“We are pleased to announce a key addition to our creative team with Brandon Harris joining as Festival Programmer. His extensive experience, distinctive taste and relationships throughout the industry will elevate our growing festival program. As a three-time festival attendee, Brandon knows what we are building in Memphis and he was the perfect fit to join our staff after a national search,” said Executive Director Ryan Watt.
