Boy Scouts of America, Memphis Fire Department and Streets Ministries are working together to prepare the city’s youth for career opportunities through the Memphis Fire Cadet Program.

“The program will instill positive core values and give SCS students a chance to train in every facet pertaining to the Memphis Fire Department,” said Julian Shaw of Boy Scouts of America.
Cadets can expect a series of fire service-related curriculums and hands-on experiences to introduce them to the work of firefighters.

Upon completion of the Memphis Fire Cadet Program, students will receive assistance in choosing Memphis-based colleges and universities.

“The growth and development of young minds is a responsibility of the community,” said Fire Cadet Advisor, Major L. McNeil. “We share in that responsibility by providing our mission of teamwork, with commitment to excellence, compassion and immediate community protection with the Memphis Fire Cadets.”
