I think it’s critical the arts be available for people to engage with and use as a tool to understand, to converse about, and to interpret what's happening in the world.
I’m reluctant to say there is a greater need for the arts as a result of the pandemic – the need has always been great. They’ve always been important because they support mental and emotional health education, self-esteem, and confidence, and I feel that people are starting to realize that now in ways they may not have before.
COVID-19 has required a big shift in our thinking in terms of virtual programming when what we've done for so long is rely on that in-person experience. I think we've done a really good job with that, though it hasn't been without its trial and error.
