What is it: It’s about to get spooky at Firelands Adventure Tours. The crew at the Sandusky-based tour group are offering a fun, family-oriented experiences throughout the Halloween season.

Sandusky resident Donna Bretz will take on the role of tour guide for Haunted Sandusky. Bretz, the founder and 10-year director of Sandusky’s Witches Walk, draws on her background as a medium, author of the book Keeper of the Spirit Tales, and owner of Mystic Moon in downtown Sandusky.

Bretz will lead tours through business, homes, parks, and a cemetery to hear the uncommon histories that few know about, says Dick Ries, one of the owners of Firelands Adventure Tours.

“People on the streets of Sandusky don’t realize that they’re not the only ones who live, work, and play in the area,” Ries says. “Haunted Sandusky tours visit buildings, homes, and public areas where spirit beings still abide from Sandusky’s long-ago, colorful past. Our guests learn fascinating stories about who they are and why they’re here.”

Bretz says she is excited to share her gifts with the people of her hometown.

“I have been given gifts that provide me with a heightened experience with spirit beings – those who have gone before,” Bretz says. “They entrust me with their stories so that I can help others understand old Sandusky buildings, the spirits who inhabit them, and the stories of their lives. The Haunted Sandusky Tour is another way for me to help others appreciate that Sandusky is much more than what meets the eye.

When is it: Haunted Sandusky tours will start at 6 p.m. Thursday-Sunday starting at the Jackson Street Pier. Make reservations on the Firelands Adventure Tours website.
