New salon fills in Cooper and Central

 

The properties, including neighbor Urban Outfitters, are owned by developer Charlie Ryan and his group Central Cooper Gateway Inc. The corner has been getting a lot of buzz since Ryan acquired the Toad Hall Antiques building at 2129 Central last year. 

 

No further details have been released, but Ryan has said that a mixed-use residential and retail development is planned. 

 

“I’m excited about the project. I hope the plan goes as what it is right now,” said Scot Robinson, who co-owns Pavo Salon with Shawn McGhee. “Of course any time there’s a project of this size involved it could go any way. I think Midtown is so long overdue for retail expansion. It’s just been overlooked for quite some time.”

 

The 2,400-square foot salon will feature 15 haircut, color and styling stations. There will also be a wax room in the back. The Midtown location will not do nails, body treatments or massages unlike the orginal Pavo Salon, which opened in 2000 at the Laurelwood Shopping Center. An independent contractor is doing the buildout and Novvo Etopa will help with the design. Robinson hopes to be open around September.
