A relatively small sliver of a neighborhood situated between the Medical District and Downtown Core, the Edge is anchored by the historic Sun Studios to the east and the Redbird’s AutoZone Park to the west. Many of its industrial buildingss have been converted to studios and craft spaces, and the area is increasingly attracting new businesses, including the Trolley Stop Market, Evelyn & Olive, High Cotton Brewery and Mutt Island Dog Daycare. Recent placemaking efforts have focused on walkability with beautification of streetscapes and crosswalks in the area.
Locations around the city for the first 60 bike stations of the Explore Bike Share program have been announced, and the nonprofit has plans more stations and bikes for 2019 and 2020. The 600-bike system, which spans from Downtown, South Memphis, and Cooper Young to Orange Mound, Overton Square, and Crosstown, is moving towards a launch later this spring.

Community leaders, residents and volunteers from local businesses braved the cold on Monday and took to the streets to clean up blighted properties in neighborhoods across Memphis for the second annual MLK Days of Service.
A new partnership in the Edge District between two growing local businesses, Edge Alley and High Cotton Brewing Company, includes tearing down a wall between the two spaces and setting up a distribution agreement for Edge Coffee Co.’s roasted coffee, which will use High Coffee's beer distribution infrastructure to get beans in retail locations throughout Shelby County.
Memphis-based development company Shab Chic is partnering with the Memphis Medical District Collaborative to bring a retail shipping container village to a lot on the 600 block of Monroe Avenue in the Edge District directly across from Edge Alley.
