Mighty Lights expanding along Memphis riverfront this fall

Nonprofit Memphis Bridge Lighting, Inc. is beginning work this week on an expansion of the newly branded Mighty Lights LED lighting installations on the Memphis riverfront. The $14 million privately-funded project on the Harahan Bridge/Big River Crossing and soon-to-be-illuminated Hernando de Soto Bridge is free to the public every night of the year.

State-of-the-art auto technician school replaces blighted car dealership

A blighted parcel at 2785 Mendenhall Road in East Memphis will be transformed into a new state-of-the-art auto-technician school helping to fill local jobs thanks to a partnership between the Greater Memphis Auto Dealers Association (GMADA) and William R. Moore College of Technology. The property, which was previously home to a Dobbs Honda auto dealership in the 1980s and ‘90s, has sat dormant for several years.

Explore Bike Share bicycle rental stations launching soon with more on the way in 2019

Locations around the city for the first 60 bike stations of the Explore Bike Share program have been announced, and the nonprofit has plans more stations and bikes for 2019 and 2020. The 600-bike system, which spans from Downtown, South Memphis, and Cooper Young to Orange Mound, Overton Square, and Crosstown, is moving towards a launch later this spring.
