Sandusky is #1 – and we have the stats to prove it.

As of February 14, Sandusky is in the lead for Best Coastal Small Town. As part of the USA Today 10 Best competition, Sandusky is in the running against 20 other small coastal towns, including Stuart, Fla. and Marblehead, Mass. You can show your Sandusky pride by voting once a day through Feb. 20.

In fact, Sandusky is so popular that it is also up for Best Midwestern Small Town, and you can vote once a day in this contest as well.

Why is Sandusky up for these accolades? According to the USA Today 10 Best site: “This Ohio town on the coast of Lake Erie is home to Cedar Point – one of the top roller coaster-laden amusement parks in the country. As such, Sandusky regularly welcomes families from all over and is prepared to do so with other attractions like Great Wolf Lodge Water Park, Sandusky Children’s Museum, and the Merry-Go-Round Museum, plus plenty of spots for yummy treats like Soda Pop’s.”

So what makes Sandusky #1? We all have our own opinions. Ask one person and it may be the gorgeous sunsets over the Jackson Street Pier. For another, it may be the close-knit neighborhood culture.

The Helm asked members of the North Coast Young Professionals explain why they think Sandusky deserves the top spot as Best Coastal Small Town:
