Ice skating is once again open to the public at the Jackson Street Pier.

The Civista Bank Ice Skating Rink is open for its sophomore season, with a few upgrades. The rink is now in an L shape, with areas of 32 by 80 feet and 28 by 16 feet for a total of more than 3,000 square feet of skating surface, according to Annette Solet, City of Sandusky Recreation Program Supervisor. The rink is a synthetic system, with panels that are a mixture of a composite material and recycled water bottles.

The season runs from Nov. 17 through Dec. 31.  Typical days of operation are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free, with a $5 skate rental fee.

“We have about 100 skates in various sizes, so if you have your own skates bring them!” says Solet.
