Big League Movers to expand workforce by 22 in Memphis and Atlanta

Memphis-based Big League Movers is growing its operations in Memphis and Atlanta, with plans to add as many as 22 people during 2014. Job openings in Memphis will include some upper management positions, along with sales associates and movers.

Big League founder and President Steven Reed formed the company in the summer of 2008, and it has grown to employ 20 people in Atlanta and 32 people at its Memphis headquarters, which includes sales, accounting and upper management. Last year the company more than doubled its revenue.

“I saw that there was a lot of room in the Memphis market for trustworthy movers who didn’t have any hidden fees,” says Reed, who was born and raised in Memphis and attended the University of Memphis. “As I grew the business and moved into the Atlanta market three years ago, I saw that demand is actually throughout the Southeast.”

Big League focuses on building positive word-of-mouth and garnering customers’ repeat business.

“Considering the average person moves 12 times in their life, we want to take our major league standard of service to as many people as possible, particularly in the Southeast,” Reed says. “Our five-year plan is to open up a few more branches within the Southeast.”

Reed also just formed a new partnership with the University of Memphis and is excited to be working with its MILE internship program.

As part of the ongoing growth, the company will also add six new moving trucks to its 19-truck fleet in May.
